Plant Hardiness Zone MapIt's official: The 2012 USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map is out, and The Mountain Top Arboretum is now zone 5. As we all suspected, things are just not as cold in the winter. This has many ramifications for the Catskill forest, not least of which are invasive species and insect predation, but on the positive side, we can experiment with growing some lovely trees that were marginally hardy before. |
